The other day, one of my clients asked me for some ideas on what she should write in her blog. It was a good question and one that I am constantly asking myself.
There are many types of blogs;
- diary blogs,
- commentary blogs,
- political blogs,
- cause-focused blogs
- travel blogs
- family blogs
but my focus is on helping businesses to use their blogs effectively.
4 Quick Tips for Blogging for Business
Tip #1 – Know Your Audience
Answer questions that your clients would be asking you any way. Keep your ears open for ideas. As I mentioned at the beginning, this blog came from a question I was discussioning with a client.
Tip # 2 – Know Your Business
You are the expert on your business. Don’t be concerned to share what you know. It may be common to you, but others may be looking to learn just what you have to share.
Tip #3 – Know Your Words
Chose your jargon carefully. What you would say and how you would say it to a English Literature Professor is much different than sharing with a busy stay at home mom (although the two are not mutully exclusive). Form your choice of words to best meet the needs of your audience.
Tip # $ – Know Yourself
Readers love personal stories. They can relate to you better and feel like they know you better. Sharing your past business experiences may be the answer to someone else going through that struggle today. Y

Some good tips. Let me add another two quick tips (and these is particularly for business blogging):
– Always be professional. Write in good English, as people get an immediate impression of your business based on the standard of the blog.
– Relate the blog posts to the services offered by the business. By that, I don't mean that they have to be the whole post, but if anything is appropriate, and may help a customer, then mention in within the post. After all, a lot of people reading business blogs are actively looking for something to spend money on.
