When you’re blogging or adding to your website, there are many occasions where you’d like to provide a document formatted so anyone can read it. I’ve used downloadable PDFs for:
- Checklists
- Forms
- Ebooks
- Articles
- Blueprints
- Flyers
- Drawings
- and much more.
WordPress doesn’t offer a simple embed or linking process for PDFs.
So how do you add a PDF to WordPress?
Simply add the PDF to Media and link it on your page with an underlined link or image.
This is the least complicated way of offering PDF downloads on your blog or website, but there are plugins that accomplish it as well. I don’t recommend using a plugin as it may slow down your website speed.
By the way, you can use this same process to download other types of documents, too. PDFs tend to be most useful because most devices will open them and they will be stay formatted the way you originally created the PDF.
